3 Real Marketing Trends that you can realistically start utilizing in 2019
If you’re reading this, chances are you are a business owner trying to figure out what you should be doing differently in 2019 to stand out from the crowd.
In this article, I’ll aim to share my industry insights into what you can start utilizing more today.
You have most likely read about chatbots, voice assistants and AI. Now don’t get me wrong, these are definitely trends that are showing in marketing and will continue to grow. I have even written about how chatbots are the future of marketing. However, if you’re a startup or a SME these might sound daunting and expensive to implement.
I want to dive into some channels that you can start using or using more today to get more bang for your buck.
Instagram Story Ads
You might already be using Instagram stories to promote your brand and that’s great but I really want to stress the importance of Instagram story ads once again.
First there were Google Ads, then there were FB ads and then IG ads. Even though all of these channels continue to perform very well, the current gold mine is in Instagram story ads.
Trending Articles on Chatbot Marketing:
Currently a common Cost Per Click (CPC) on Google in New Zealand is $3 (subject to industry).
If you were to utilise Google Ads when it was first making waves, you could have been getting Cost Per Clicks of as low as $0.10.
Instagram story ads are currently going through a similar situation.
Cost per Clicks for a successful Instagram ad sits around $0.50.
With an Instagram story, you could be getting clicks at as low as $0.25 AND reach a more engaged audience that actually interacts with your ad.
What that means for you as a business is, start using story ads as part of your digital marketing strategy.
If you’re running ads yourself, create amazing content (no need for design skills. You can use free and easy to use tools like Canva.), put up an offer and throw that bad boy as an Instagram story ad.
If you’re using a Digital marketing agency, knock on their door and ask them to start running some Instagram Story ads for you.
Higher Quality Content Marketing
Quality Content continues to grow and dominate the marketing space.
There is an abundance of people and businesses sharing content but a real scarcity in the amount of quality content.
We are used to hearing things such as “post at least once a day” but that notion is changing.
Quality is becoming King, not quantity.
Before pushing that “post” button, start thinking whether that post is giving your followers any value whatsoever.
If you’re unsure of a posting strategy, follow Gary Vaynerchuk’s method of:
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook.
Jabs are light pieces of content that provide value to your audience. These can be blog posts about your industry or little “Did you know” posts.
The key point here is to give value to your audience.
Right Hooks are posts that have CTA’s and ideally drive sales. These can be posts about your business, your offerings etc.
Make sure that you grab the attention of your audience with your jabs and then deliver your business to them on a silver platter with the right hook.
Influencers have been a hot topic for a while now.
With the Fyre Festival documentary blowing up, more and more people have learned about Influencer marketing, albeit in a negative light.
The Fyre Festival got something right though. Influencers.
To start using Influencers for your business, you don’t need $300,000 to pay Kylie Jenner for a post.
Micro Influencers are influencers that have a smaller following.
Typically in New Zealand a micro influencer is someone who can have anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 followers on Instagram.
Of course, it’s paramount to vet the influencer and make sure that their following is authentic and their audience is truly engaged with them.
That is a whole another topic in on itself & feel free to get in touch with me if you require help with vetting Influencers.
So how do you do it? There is no secret sauce to the “perfect” Influencer campaign but if you’re a beginner, following this is a good start.
Identify approximately 4 Influencers you’d like to work with and reach out to them.
Agree on approximately 2–4 posts per Influencer per month for a duration of 1–2 months.
What you now have is 4 people who are fairly well known in their niche and have a very engaged audience creating authentic content around your brand and sharing it with their audience.
There’s a lot of planning that must go into creating a successful influencer campaign so if you’re unsure about the nitty gritty, make sure you ask for expertise from people who know it best!
There you go, the above are 3 strategies that you can start utilising today for your business to start standing out from the crowd in 2019.
