1. Follow Post-Op Instructions
Most importantly, you’ll want to have a clear understanding of your plastic surgeon’s specific post-op instructions, which may include how to change your bandages if necessary, which medications to take and which to avoid as well as other important guidelines. Follow these as closely as you can to maximize your facelift recovery and results.

2. Keep Your Head Elevated
During the initial stages of recovery, your plastic surgeon will likely recommend that you keep your head elevated as much as possible. Sit in a recliner when watching TV, relaxing or even sleeping, or sleep in bed with your head propped up on a few pillows to reduce swelling.
3. Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking lots of water is a crucial part of your facelift recovery and provides the added benefit of helping to minimize swelling. Stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals to give your body the boost it need to heal quickly and efficiently.
4. Eat Less Salt
Salt intake after a facelift or any other cosmetic procedure can significantly impact swelling. Just because you are not adding salt to your food does not necessarily mean you are eating salt-free. Many foods that boast the “low-fat” label are often packed with sodium (salt) to add flavor. Pay attention to the nutrition labels of your food to ensure you are not ingesting too much salt.
