Neurology Advisor: Repetitive hits may predispose athletes to concussion

Repetitive head impact exposure appears to be a predisposing factor for the onset of concussion, according to a study published online Oct. 22 in the Annals of Biomedical Engineering. Brian D. Stemper, Ph.D., from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and colleagues quantified repetitive head impact exposure among 50 concussed NCAA Division I college football athletes compared to controls who were matched for team and position group.
