Who Gets PAD?: A Look at Patient Risk Factors

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a serious condition that can drastically alter a patient’s health and life with little warning.  Suffering from PAD places patients at a higher risk for major health events such as stroke or heart attack and is a leading cause of lower limb amputations.  Despite this, a lack of obvious symptoms means that many of the more than 17 million Americans currently living with the disease are unaware of its existence.  In fact, of all PAD patients, only 25 percent are receiving treatment.
